Today's Experience

Well, today was kind of a wierd day because we couldn't figure out how to do some things. The class started out fine but as soon we got to the part where we had to insert the picture, things got a little out of hand. Everytime we tried to insert the picture, it would just appear as a black box. After a while, I found out that the same picture was in a folder I already had. So I used that picture, but most people didn't have that folder so they were out of luck. However, Jorge found out how to make the picture work, but Mrs. Goeldner decided to call it a day. Today was a strange and funny experience and I'm pretty sure we'll laugh about it later on.

Word 2007 New Editing and Formatting

What I learned in the past exercises is that editing and formatting is easier for me now. I learned that I can change pictures by using the Picture Tools tab at the top. I also learned that instead of picking fonts and colors individually, I can choose whole groups and sets of fonts and colors that go great with each other. I already knew about inserting clip art and pictures but I had forgotten how to do it. I remembered and learned other things about clip art and pictures along the way. I learned that different colors give off different meanings to the messages in documents. For example, blue could represent confidence and red could represent power. Of course I wouldn't have learned all of this without Mrs. Goeldner and the Shelly Cashman Office 2007 book. Thank you!

Word 2007 Environment

Microsoft Button: What's in it?
The Microsoft Button includes basics such as Open, Save, Save As, Print, Close, etc. It is located at the top left corner of the window.

Tabs: What are the names?
The names are Home, Insert, Page Layout, References, Mailing, and View.

Page Layout: Group Names?
I don't really know the group names, but they're sort of like tabs just put into groups. For example, the margins are put in one group, the borders are put in another, but they're all located under the Page Layout tab.

Microsoft Word 2007 Changes

The changes done in Microsoft Word 2007, compared to Word 2003, make the formatting and things like that more accessable, in my opinion. I think that Word 2007 is much easier to use because everything is literally there for me. I don't have to waste time going up to the format toolbar and scrolling down just to do one simple task, when I can easily just push a button and the window pops up. It is much more efficient and I don't get frustrated as much because it is all just one click away. However, it was pretty hard to get used to the File button not being up there, along with Edit, Format, etc. Well, I think that's it.

Microsoft Certified Applications Specialist (MCAS)

What is MCAS?
MCAS is a program designed to certify a person in certain areas such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, and Windows Vista. It officially shows that the person has experience with these programs and has passed the certification test.

Benefits - For Employee
Certain benefits that MCAS holds for employees is learning how to use the programs more efficiently and recieving a document that says they are specialists in that area. This is good for employees that want to be a step ahead of the competition, as they will be highly respected by their bosses, and if anything goes wrong in the office, their co-workers know that they can count on them to fix the problem.

Benefits - For employer
Certain benefits that MCAS holds for employers is knowledge of having reliable employees. It also adds more to their knowledge of the Microsoft programs. Also, if the programs are new to the employees, the employers can also teach the employees on how to use the programs and such.

What's in it for me?
MCAS can give me the knowledge that people at a professional level use. Also, I can recieve the certificate earlier than most people recieve it, that gives me more "kudos" than an average employee that doesn't have a MCAS. Also, it gives me a higher chance of getting to work with more than just the average workplace.

Mrs. Goeldner, sorry it's late, but here it is.

Salutations stranger and/or friend!!

This is actually my first blog ever so I'm sorry if it seems amateur. I don't quite know how most of this works but I'm slowly figuring it out along the way. I've been exposed to social networking sites before however I don't have a MySpace, Facebook, or a Twitter, but I do have an account in Gaia Online so I do have some experience with these kinds of things.

I actually found this a bit exciting to create. I do feel a bit nervous, however, because I have some mild judgement issues. As for the blog, this is actually an assignment for my BCIS II class so I'll be posting essays and assignments, as well as some personal posts of my choice. I believe that's it and if you have any questions just comment, I guess.
